The North Hotel, Port Headland, WA

Designed by Noel Robinson Architects as the gateway to the Pilbara region, this landmark hotel incorporates significant indigenous artworks and vernacular cues tying it into the rugged landscape. Landscape elements such as water and movement feature throughout this carbon neutral project.

The 234 room North Hotel is located opposite the Port Headland Airport in the northern region of Western Australia.
The interiors of the public areas further integrate indigenous artworks by key local artist within the industrialised lobby space reflecting the modular technologies of the building. This project uses a unique methodology of completely pre-finished prefabricated modular hotel rooms located on a podium created by prefabricated concrete frames for the Ground Floor lobby , reception and gymnasium areas, because of its remoteness.
Designed to withstand the severe cyclonic conditions of the region the building will act as a stand-alone refuge under such conditions.
This project remains unrealised.
